It is time to honor mothers! Happy Mother’s Day!
Moms are like opinions. Everyone has one (or has had one).
However, mothers are far more important and precious than opinions.
I’ve heard it said that the days that we parent are long, but the years are short. As one of my children graduates college and the other begins her senior year of high school, I understand that. We must cherish those days.
And mothers deserve our gratitude as well. Mothers somehow juggle so many things that others do not even realize. Proverbs 31 is a beautiful picture of all that mothers do and of the praise that they deserve.
We should honor and thank our mothers. It is the right thing to do. Besides, if someone knows (hears) just how valuable they are, they can handle most anything. It is the least that we can do.
At the same time, I want to encourage our mothers to make sure that what is most important in life is given its proper place.
The spiritual, eternal destiny of our children is the most important thing in life because it is the only thing in life that carries over into the life beyond. Please make sure our kids are led to God – not by someone else but by us parents.
Statistics are clear that the vast majority of people come to faith before they are 18 years old. Actually, the latest studies show that it is before they are 14. As we all know, once someone becomes an “adult”, changing hearts and minds becomes extremely difficult. We cannot assume that if and when they want to know about God and salvation, they will. We must show them and teach them while they are still open to it. If we try to protect them from skinned knees and failing grades, we definitely should protect them from an eternity apart from God.
Thank you, moms, for all that you do. You are loved. You are important. And God has great things ahead for you ask you follow Him and trust His plan in your life and your family’s life.
