Are you ready to move?

I have moved several times over the years.  Each time, I have dreaded the process of packing and leaving friends.  However, I have been glad to get rid of things that accumulated, meeting new friends, and seeing what God has in store.

Moving can be a little scary, but it can be exciting as well.

Long ago, Dr. M. R. DeHaan founded the Radio Bible Class.  Near his death, he was comforted by something that J. E. Campbell wrote about death: “Moving day is coming.  Just when the van will stop at our home we do not know – but for all it is sure, and for those along in years it will come soon.  As the day approaches, we realize the necessity of leaving our present abode and occupying the new house ‘not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.’  Death for the believer is a Homegoing and not a dreaded parting.  The Owner of the house I have occupied here on earth has served notice that I must soon move out.  The foundation is crumbling, the heating system is failing, and the windows are getting dim.”

Because of his failing health, those words touched Dr. DeHaan.  He said that he had dreaded the thought of “moving” because he enjoyed his current home.  But he knew enough about the blueprints of his future home that he was excited about what was ahead.

Jesus said in John 14:1-3, “Don’t let your heart be troubled.  Believe in God, believe also in Me.  In My Father’s house are many rooms.  If it were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you?  If I go away and prepare a place for you, I will come again and take you to myself, so that where I am you may be also.”

Do you have that hope?

Do you have that expectation?

This old house will not last forever, but God wants to give you a place with Him forever.  He also told us that the only way of having that blessing is if we choose to accept Jesus as Lord and Savior.

For those of us who have done that, I cannot wait to explore the halls with you.  For those who have not done that, please do not wait; please do not put it off.  This old house will not last forever, and we do not know exactly when move out day will be.

The following book goes into great detail on this…
