To put my own spin on the “Where’s the Beef?” lady from Wendy’s commercials: “Where is the peace?”
I know some families that are struggling with some unexpected and painful events.
Numerous Americans are struggling in the continued aftermath of hurricanes and tornadoes while others are in the middle of destructive fires.
I see people on the political left and right using words and posting things that show their distrust of nearly half of America.
I know of many who do not know how they are going to be able to afford the basics of life.
Many people cannot seem to find peace.
Long ago, I heard someone say that peace is not about what happens around us; it is about how we react to what happens around us. I believe that.
It is very easy to go to a dark place when life is hurting us. It is very easy to imagine worst-case-scenarios when we do not see a light. It is even easy to think that God does not hear us or care when we lack pace. But please understand – God never said nor implied that everything we face is good. A lot of life can be hard and hurtful. However, we do have a promise in Romans 8:28: “We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God, who are called according to His purpose.”
When we trust Him, we see Him move. I wish that I never had to face trials, but I do (as you do). I am truly grateful that even in my trials, Jesus is with me. And I am also overwhelmed to recall that Jesus made a promise that we all need to embrace. He said in John 14:27, “Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Don’t let your heart be troubled or fearful.”
The Bible tells us that we need to stop worrying and instead bring all of our concerns to God in prayer. And if we do, Philippians 4:7 says that “the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”
Peace may seem elusive, but it is not if you know where to find it. His name is “Jesus.”
I urge you to not allow the turmoil of life keep you from experiencing the peace of God. I also urge you to help your neighbor discover that same peace. You will be blessed if you do.
The following book may help you understand more about how to have this true kind of peace. Check it out by clicking the picture below…
