Have you ever thought about how amazing prayer is?

Most of us know that prayer is important.  Most of us know that we should pray – regularly.  Most of us also know that we do not pray as often as we should.

Think about what that means.

We say that we know we should pray because it is important, but we do not pray as much as we should.  If we truly believed that prayer is vital, we would make sure we actually pray.  And that is what we should do.  Deep down in our hearts, we know that we should.

It is amazing to think about the power of prayer.  I have had the blessing of praying for people who were in my presence, and I have had the blessing of praying for people who were far from me (even on the other side of the world).  It did not matter whether I was in their presence or not; God heard the prayers, and God answered.

That is amazing!

A long time ago, a royal official’s son was near death, and he was desperate for help.  He heard that Jesus was in a town that was at least a full day’s journey away, so he immediately went to find Jesus.  He asked Him to come back home with him to heal his son, but in John 4:50 Jesus told him, “Go, your son will live.”  And he was healed – immediately.

God hears and answers.  However, God wants us to trust and believe.

At another time, a boy suffered from seizures and more.  Jesus’ disciples tried to heal him, but they could not.  When Jesus came to them, He immediately healed the boy.  The disciples asked why they could not do it, and in Matthew 17:20 Jesus told them, “Because of your little faith.  For truly I tell you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will tell this mountain, ‘Move from here to there.’ And it will move.  Nothing will be impossible for you.”

On the other side, Jesus said in Matthew 21:22, “If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.”

Prayer.  We need it.  God commands it.  Let us do it.
