Do You Need Peace?

Don’t you want some peace in your life?

When I look around me, I find too few people experiencing peace.  Too many people are ready to argue, criticize, and complain about anything and everything.  Too many people are so wrapped up in fear and pain.  Too many people are worried about whatever might happen next to them or around them.  Too many people lack peace.

Of course, I struggle with experiencing peace in my own life, but I also know that I can have it if I am willing to have it.  I know that Philippians 4:6-7 states: “Don’t worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”

Think about that.  Whatever fears, problems, issues, or struggles you may face are not greater than the peace that you can have while facing them.  Paul made it clear that God’s peace is bigger and greater than we can even imagine, and it is available to you.

Jesus faced the ultimate death for us.  He was betrayed, slandered, beaten, mocked, and viciously murdered.  However, He had peace because He knew that what He faced would provide freedom and salvation to anyone willing to accept Him and it.  That kind of peace is what He offers to us.

God’s peace gives you peace with God, and when you have peace with God, it spreads into every area of your life.  You realize that nothing is beyond His control.  So, if nothing is beyond God’s control, we do not have to worry.  We can trust in Him and rely on Him.

In our country, it seems like those with opposing views are at each other’s throats.  Anger, distrust, and fear dictate how we think about and treat others.  It is no wonder that peace seems so elusive.  Jesus and His ways are left out of our interactions and often only considered as a last resort.

It is time to change that.

It is time for us to turn to the only one who can give us peace.

It is time for us to turn to Jesus.

If you have not yet accepted Him as Lord and Savior of your life, the time to do it is now – not later.  If you have accepted Him as Lord and Savior of your life, the time to live like it is now – not later.  Peace is available, but you must allow it to become real for you.
