Most of the world used to believe that the world was flat. Scientists once said that it is impossible for bumblebees to fly because their wings are not large enough. The sports world used to believe that it was physiologically impossible for anyone to run a mile in under four minutes. Medical professionals used to mock anyone who said that doctors should wash their hands before dealing with patients. There have been many things that once were considered impossible but are no longer viewed that way.
What impossibilities have you discovered to actually be possible in your life?
Did your faith strengthen when you realized that God works even when we can’t imagine how He could?
Mark 6 records the miraculous moment when Jesus took five small bread loaves and two fish and fed 5,000 men plus women and children. Several hours later, Jesus sent His disciples across the See of Galilee in a boat while He took some time to pray. While they faced a brutally strong opposing wind, Jesus walked on water and met them. It was a shocking sight, and it scared them silly. Jesus had to tell them to not be scared event though “they were completely astounded, because they had not understood about the loaves.” (Mark 6:51-52)
Jesus did the impossible. Again.
And the disciples didn’t get it. Again.
I wish that I could say that I have no problem believing that God can do the impossible in my life, but I cannot. I try. I want to. But I struggle at it sometimes.
I have seen God do amazing things in my life. He has taken dark, dark moments and brought me through them. He has blessed when some people tried to harm. He has given and given and given when I deserve nothing. He has made possible what I thought was impossible.
That is why I ask God to help me have a stronger faith. In my head I know that He can do whatever He desires. In my heart (plagued by the trials of life brought on by myself and others) I struggle. And the amazing thing is that God can help me focus on His amazing ability in spite of what seems impossible.
What about you?
Will you take the time to trust?
Will you take the time to seek His help?
Will you trust God for the impossible to become possible through Him?
