It is bad enough when your favorite sports team has a pitiful season. Some fans have even worn paper bags over their heads to the games as a funny way of showing their disappointment.
It is truly bad when it seems like life keeps beating you down. You don’t get the breaks that others seem to get. You can’t seem to overcome certain things that always pull you down. And (even as Christians) sin seems to have stronger control over you than you have over yourself.
Spoiler alert: It does not have to be that way. 1 John 5:4 tells us that, “Everyone who has been born of God conquers the world. This is the victory that has conquered the world: our faith.”
God offers victory even in our bodies that seem so frail to the ravages of time, temptation, and turmoil We are told in 1 Corinthians 15:54-57: “When this corruptible body is clothed with incorruptibility, and this mortal body is clothed with immortality, then the saying that is written will take place: Death has been swallowed up in victory. Where, death, is your victory? Where, death, is your sting? The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ!”
As a Christian, you can experience this victory. The Bible talks about victory again and again because it is important to God.
Jesus offers the victory that He knew to us, and that includes the same authority and power that created His victory. He overcame the world, and you can overcome it too. You will overcome it if you let Him guide you.
Jesus faced more than we can imagine. Satan through everything he could to try to push Jesus off the path He was on, but he failed. Jesus won.
And He can help you win.
Even the ultimate trial of life – death – had no real power over you. Jesus’ victory over death means that we can overcome it too. The fear of death is based on what we might face at judgment, but Jesus paid that price if you will accept it.
True faith is not being gutsy. It is being confident that God will work in your life at the right time. Trouble is an opportunity to experience God’s power in your life, and He has unlimited resources to bring the victory.
Don’t live a defeated life. Trust God. Follow Him. Worship and serve Him. Let Him create the victory you need.
