Life can be hard. Believe me; I know firsthand.
How we choose to face the hardships of life is important – very important. Our reactions can lead us into misery and anger, or they can lead us into growth and future joy.
Jesus faced more hardship than we can wrap our minds around. Many people only wanted to get something from Him. Many people felt threatened by His popularity and wanted Him removed. Many people had their own expectations about what he should do. Some even turned their backs on Him.
The night before Jesus faced the cross, Judas (one of Jesus’ disciples) led the mob to Him. Knowing what Judas was planning to do, He said, “Friend, do what you have come for.” Friend? Really?
Jesus knew that His crucifixion would result in the salvation of anyone willing to follow Him. He understood what Romans 8:28 tells us: “We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God, who ae called according to His purpose.” All things are not good, but God can work anything out for our good.
You and I have faced hardships brought on by other people. They can be deceptive, mean, hurtful, and more. They convince themselves that hurting others will benefit themselves (either by getting ahead, making them laugh, or whatever else they can imagine). But what we must remember is that “the god of this age has blinded the minds of the unbelievers to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.” (2 Corinthians 4:4)
How have you dealt with it in the past? How should you deal with it in the future?
I urge you to live for Jesus. Also, remember that many people will not like the fact that you have chosen to live for Him. So, keep your heart focused on God; He has promised to be with His children and to work all things for their good.
Life is hard for everyone. However, I am grateful that my hardships can actually be helpful. Are you?
The following book helps us understand how to deal with those overwhelming struggles…
