When was the last time that you realized you needed to do things differently?

Perhaps you couldn’t stop doing things that caused you trouble, so you decided to do things differently.

Perhaps you realized that there was an easier way to do something, so you decided to do things differently.

Perhaps you wanted to get healthier, so you decided to things differently.

Well….. I have determined that it’s time to do things differently with this blog.

You see, for years I have posted things that were on my heart and mind.  However, when I reflect on what I’ve seen and learned over the years, I have come to realize that I need to be more intentional about helping others grow spiritually.  Many Christians struggle to focus on spiritual growth because we are surrounded by too much noise and too many distractions.

This leads me to want us to focus on four things that can help us grow: hearing, doing, sharing, and being.

We need to hear God’s message to us.

God speaks in many ways: the Bible, messages, books, other people, and especially the Holy Spirit.  He wants us to know Him and His truth, so we must hear from Him and hear His truth.  Jesus said that He speaks and wants us to hear – John 10:27 (CSB): “My sheep hear my voice, I know them, and they follow me.”  Therefore, we need to understand how we can hear from Him.

We need to do God’s will for us.

One of the biggest problems we face is knowing what to do but not doing it.  That’s a big problem when we consider James 4:17: “So it is sin to know the good and yet not do it.” (CSB)  We need to understand how we can move from knowing to doing what God desires.

We need to share God’s message with others.

As Christians, we must share what we have discovered about Jesus: how to be saved, how to grow, how to deal with life…  It is echoed in what Peter stated when he told us to be ready to share why we have hope.  We need to understand how we can do this.

We need to be God’s child fully.

Even though Paul explained that when you become a Christian, you become a new creation.  Sadly, too many of us have not experienced the new life (or the abundant life that Jesus talked about).  We need to understand who we are as children of God, so we can actually live like we are what God says we are.

Hearing, doing, sharing, and being are what we need to see in our lives.  Therefore, that is what we will be examining.

I’m sure that I will deal with other things from time to time, but we will mainly focus on how we can really grow stronger in our faith.
